Over the last several years Quartz has become more and more popular, especially for those people who are looking for white materials or materials that mimic the look of marble, thanks in part to its nonporous surface that holds up against stains, requires less maintenance than natural stone and is also easy to clean. Quartz, sometimes referred to as engineered stone, is a great option if you are looking for consistency in color and pattern since each slab is going to be almost identical to the other slabs of that same material. Quartz is a great option if you are looking for that contemporary or modern style for your kitchen or bathroom project.
Despite the similarity in name, Quartzite and quartz are two very different materials. Quartzite is a natural stone with a hardness level exceeding that of granite. Some Quartzites have a similar appearance to marble, with dramatic veining, but since it is much harder and more dense than marble, it is much better suited for harsh environments or daily use. Quartzite is among the most beautiful and most exotic stones in the world, with a few varieties being wholly translucent, making for a phenomenal effect when combined with the proper lighting. If you are looking for an elegant, high-end and unparalleled kitchen or bathroom countertop, your search should begin and end with Quartzite.
Often imitated but never duplicated, Marble is another natural stone with unmatched beauty and pattern, but with the benefit of having a smaller price tag than most quartzites. Forming naturally from sedimentary dolomite or limestone rock, each type and slab of Marble is different. Generally with flowing or wave-like patterns, primarily in the white and grey color palette, Marble countertops provide a softer look and feel than other materials. While not as hard or dense as granite, quartz or quartzite, most Marble slabs, especially the dolomitic marbles, are suitable for use as kitchen countertops and certainly bathroom countertops. Cleaning Marble countertops is a breeze and the additional maintenance associated with Marble merely requires re-sealing your Marble countertops twice a year rather than just once a year as with other natural stones. Marble, there is no substitute!!
In Denver, CO, the material cost for granite countertops can set you back anywhere between $45 to $75 per sq. ft. Factoring in labor and installation costs, you can expect to shell out between $2,500 to $5,500 for your fancy new granite countertops.
There are multiple choices of natural stone types that you can find on the market. The most popular among them are marble, granite, and quartz. However, among these, granite is the hot favorite of most homeowners these days.
Granite countertops are heavier than other stones but they knock out the competition with their wondrous durability and ease of cleaning. Additionally, the heat-resistance and hardness of granite tops put them ahead of the game.
Any additional enhancements that you wish to apply to your granite will also cost you extra bucks. These can include decorative cutting of edges or plumbing fittings. Also, the labor fee will go up if you are remodeling and need the previous countertop to be taken off.
Granite comes in different grades which determines its quality. Each one depends on the color, clarity, shipping, and availability of the granite. If the higher quality granite is out of your price range, you can try a lower grade and save a good amount of cash.
Some manufacturers sell pre-cut and polished slabs of granite made into standard sizes for countertops and kitchen islands. Buying this, you will avoid the cost of on-site granite cutting by installers. However, if your counters are not standard-sized, or have a lot of unusual corners, it is better to avoid this option. 781b155fdc
