The registration code consists of your group name and a series of letters and numbers. You will need this code to access the SnapGene download page and to activate the software on your computer.
How to Download SnapGene using the Registration Code
To download SnapGene using the registration code, follow these steps:
Copy the registration code from the email that you received from SnapGene.
Go to https://www.snapgene.com/support/downloads and paste the registration code in the field provided.
Click Submit to open the download page.
The download page will show your license group name and registration code information and provide links for the most recent version of SnapGene suitable for your license.
Click the appropriate button to download the SnapGene installer for your operating system (Windows, macOS or Linux).
How to Install SnapGene on your Computer
To install SnapGene on your computer, follow these steps:
Windows: Run the Installer executable to install SnapGene. On Windows, the installer supports flags to control the installation process via the command line. See Command Line: Installation and Activation for more details.
macOS: The macOS installer is an Apple Disk Image file (.dmg). In Finder, open the disk image and drag the SnapGene application to your Applications folder to install SnapGene.
Linux: Install via the Terminal using the .deb file (Ubuntu) using sudo apt install /path\\\\to\\\\installer or using the .rpm file (Fedora/Redhat) with sudo yum install /path\\\\to\\\\installer. For example, in Ubuntu to install Snapgene, user bob would use: sudo apt install '/home/bob/Downloads/snapgene_6.1.1_linux.deb'. In Fedora/Redhat user bob would use: sudo yum install '/home/bob/Downloads/snapgene_6.1.1_linux.rpm'.
How to Register SnapGene on your Computer
To register SnapGene on your computer, follow these steps:
Run SnapGene, accept the End User License Agreement (EULA), then enter your name, email and the license group name and registration code.
You can copy these items from the download page or from the email that you received from SnapGene, and paste them in the SnapGene Registration dialog.
Click Register.
You must be connected to the internet to register SnapGene. Once registered, SnapGene will run without requiring an internet connection â
â Users of a SnapGene Network license must connect to the internet at least weekly, via an allowed IP address, in order to continue using SnapGene. Users of a Shared license must be able to connect to a local SnapGene license server in order to use SnapGene.
